A Legacy of Gratitude: The Class of 1972 Endowed Scholarship

As the Class of 1972 approached their 50th reunion, they reflected on the lifelong friendships, lessons, and generosity that defined their Peddie experience. United by gratitude, they set out to create something lasting: an endowed scholarship to ensure talented students, regardless of financial circumstance, could access the same life-changing opportunities.

At the heart of this effort was Class Captain Sandor Balogh ’72. San championed the vision that reunion giving should open doors for future generations. Leading by example, he made provisions for the fund through his estate—inspiring classmates to contribute and establishing a model for future reunion classes to create endowed funds of their own.

Tragically, shortly before the celebration, San passed away from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. While he could not return to campus, his presence resonated deeply throughout the weekend. Classmates gathered to honor his leadership, friendship, and vision for Peddie’s future.

Today the Class of 1972 Endowed Scholarship stands as a powerful testament to collective generosity. San’s gift ensured that his belief in Peddie would create an enduring legacy that will support deserving students for generations to come.
